Mitchell Friend has successfully defended his Ph.D. “Complexation of tetravalent fission products and plutonium(IV) with polyaminopolycarboxylate ligands” on July 20.

2017

Cecilia Eiroa Lledo has been selected to receive one of this year’s G. T. Seaborg Institute Research Fellowships.  She will conduct research on nuclear forensics at Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Mitchell Friend has received funding from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) to conduct plutonium chemistry at LLNL.

Joelle Reiser co-authored the paper Non-destructive characterization of corroded glass surfaces by spectroscopic ellipsometry, the Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids!

Joelle Reiser received the 2017 Frank Fowler Endowed Graduate Fellowship in Chemistry.

Mitchell Friend received the James P. & Lee Ella Ruck Graduate Fellowship in Chemistry.  Many thanks to Mr. Robert Ruck and Mr. and Mrs. James and Lee Ella Ruck for their generosity!

Mitchell Friend is a First Place winner in the 2017 Innovations Awards (Innovations in Nuclear Technology R&D Awards) for his paper “Hafnium(IV) complexation with oxalate at variable temperatures” and is invited to present his award-winning paper at the ANS Winter Meeting October 29-November 2 in Washington DC.
